What Nick can help with
How we will help your pet

1
Request a referral from your primary vet
The first step is to request a referral from your primary veterinary surgeon. Working closely with your vet is essential for success, and Nick works on a referral only basis. Having a full medical history allows Nick to assess your pet thoroughly and create the most appropriate treatment plan.
2
Case assessment
Before your first consultation, Nick will review your pet’s full medical history provided by your vet, along with their behavioural history, which you will share by completing a detailed questionnaire. Any video footage you provide may also be reviewed to gain a better understanding of your pet’s behaviour.
3
First consult
Your first consultation lasts approximately two to three hours and can take place in person at your home, your local veterinary clinic or online, depending on your location, your pet’s needs and your preferences. This allows time for a thorough assessment of your pet’s behaviour and the creation of a clear, individualised treatment plan.
Nick carries out an in depth assessment of your pet’s mental and physical health, as well as their environment and social relationships, to ensure a comprehensive picture of contributing factors is established.
4
Action plan
Following your initial consultation, you will receive a detailed written report outlining the likely factors contributing to your pet’s behaviour and a personalised action plan tailored to your pet and situation. This may include behaviour modification, medication where appropriate, changes to the home or your pet’s routine, and guidance on how to respond to your pet’s behaviour moving forward.
5
Working with your primary Vet
Your primary veterinary surgeon will receive a summary of the consultation and your personalised action plan. Nick will liaise closely with your vet if further investigations are needed to exclude underlying medical issues contributing to your pet’s behaviour. If medication is required, this will be prescribed or dispensed through your primary veterinary practice.
6
Ongoing support
Behavioural issues are complex and take time and commitment to address, especially when there is a medical component. Ongoing care is essential, so our packages include a follow up assessment and email or WhatsApp messenger support for a minimum of four months after your initial consultation. Following the completion of your package, further ongoing support is available as needed and tailored to you and your pet.

“Behaviour change is a team effort. I’ll be your coach, providing expertise and guidance, but you are the key player in helping your pet. With time and commitment, meaningful progress to improve your pet's quality of life is possible, and I’m here to support you every step of the way.”
